How to Plan and Execute Successfully

I find myself spending hours on my business each day but in the past have spent too many hours focusing on my training and not executing the work that I need to execute. I am not sure if there is a perfect balance between planning and execution but below are some rules of thumb that I live by to have success for myself in my business and in my life.

1. Get Your Head Straight - When my head is not straight, it does not matter what I do or not do, I am not going to have success. I need to get my head int eh right place and when that happens the experience of success just seems to flow naturally and with ease. A lot of times all that is required to have my head straight is for me to put my head down and take action. I know for myself that my biggest hurdles and biggest distractions are inactivity. Not feeling good about myself is usually a direct result of some inactivity or something that I am avoiding.
2. Have a plan for success - In my mind, I have to at least loosely know that if I do A, B and C and do it over and over again for a period of time that I will have success for myself and for my business. Even if that does not pan out to be true, the fact that I am heading in a specific direction always seems to make the difference of allowing me to do what I want to do and to have the success that I want to have in life.
OK, so now to the original question at hand. I like to have an 80/20 split between activity and actually training myself. The only true way to learn if something if works is to try it for myself and to implement it successfully myself. I wish there was another way.
