Get Your Revenge Through Your Accomplishments – Setting Goals

Setting Goals -This post is inspired by the article – Lessons from the ‘World’s Ugliest Woman’: ‘Stop Staring and Start Learning’.
Lizzie Velasquez was dubbed the ‘The Worlds Ugliest Woman’ in a YouTube clip when she was in high school.  Lizzie was born with a medical condition that only two other people in the World have.  She lacks the ability to build muscle tissue, gain weight or store fat.

Setting Goals

After the video came out, Lizzie set four goals for herself -
1. To Become a Motivation Speaker
2. To Publish a Book
3. To Graduate College
4. To Build a Family and Career for Herself
Lizzie has and is rapidly accomplishing her goals and still faces the challenge of people staring at her.  However, she is considering handing out cards that encourage people to stop starting and start learning.
Lizzie is an excellent example of somebody who turns what could be a devastating challenge into an opportunity to make a difference for herself and for others.
She would have every excuse in the World to live a life in isolation and a life where she would be entitled to be angry at the World but Lizzie chose a different path.
Below are some lessons learned from this story Setting Goals that can be taken into every area of life –
Do not get angry and do not try to get even - There is no need to stoop down to somebody else’s level.  When people try to cause hurt and pain for others, it is usually because they have hurt and pain themselves.  They are seeking a response so they can continue to cause damage and so they can prove to themselves that you are a person that deserves the abuse.  Do not respond and do not do anything.  Work on yourself and your accomplishments.  That is the ultimate revenge.
Set specific goals for yourself and set four of them - Four is a manageable number of goals.  Set the goals that you want to achieve, even if you have no idea how you are going to go about achieving them.  Then work diligently on achieving those goals every single day of your life.  You will find that the more you work towards your goals, the more apparent the means of how to achieve your goals will come to you.
Keep innovating - There is not one size that fits all solutions for your problem.  Lizzie still has a challenge with people staring and it still bothers her but, as opposed to wasting so much time on that, she focus on solutions and things that she can do to solve her challenge.  If you are constantly looking for solutions, you are sure to find them.
Make something great of your life today.
