The purpose of this post is to demonstrate the value of having an idea incubator for the work that you that you do. An idea incubator is a place where you can store your ideas until they are ready to come out and be full featured blog posts.
Ideas are fleeting. They are here one minute and then are gone the next minute. If you do not act on the idea right away, it may never come back to you again in the same format. The problem is that you have multiple ideas in every minute so there is no way to act on every idea at every moment.
The Idea Incubator is a fancy of way saying that you should write your ideas down as you have them. This can take any form that works for you - You can simply create a listing of your ideas or you can write a little blurb around each idea to start to formulate your post. Either way, make sure that you leave enough room on the paper for the idea to grow into something bigger.
Now, each idea will take a couple of forms –
1. A concept that has not materialized - This is just a random idea that you do not have anything to do with.
2. A concept with legs but missing something - This is an idea that may be a good idea but it does not hit you in the gut as something that is worth writing about right now. Something is missing and those missing pieces may never be filled and it may never be worth writing on the idea or getting it started.
3. A fully flashed out idea - These are the ideas that come to you as vivid images. These are the ones that you want to jump on and write on right away. They are very clear and you are clear that the World needs the information that you have in this image…
