The Moments that Define Our Life

I was laying bed this morning, twenty minutes before my alarm went off.  I did not want to get up and could have used the extra few minutes of sleep.  In a split second, I made the decision to wake up and get started on my writing.
I have no idea if this will make any difference in the long run but an accumulation of events like this may make the difference between a successful life and a life of mediocrity.  I am not sure even what mediocrity means, but I know what it feels like.
We think our success comes from major activities, from some magic event or some magic process that will make all of the difference.  That very well may be the case but I have not found it for 37 years, and believe me I have tried to find it.
Here are some things that make the difference in life -
1. Know what to do when you are going to wake up - I have faced the same situation so many times and have decided to just sleep through.  The reason being that I did not know what to do when I woke up.  Now, I know that when I wake up I am going to write.  If I wake up too late, then I will do less writing.
2. Have a goal outside of yourself in mind - Keep a goal firmly planted in your mind that is bigger than yourself.  Contrary to popular belief, you will not get out of bed for yourself.  Something bigger than yourself will need to get you out of bed in the morning.  Find that something and you will be a few steps closer to your success.
3. Expect that life will have unexpected turns and surprises - Do not expect that life will follow a normal path or a normal track.  There will be unexpected surprises.  Embrace those surprises and see if they help you find something out about yourself.
Make it an awesome day and express yourself the way you know how.
